December 7th, 2009 -- On November 9, 1989, the wall was brought down in Berlin. Today, in Palestine and across the world people are fighting to tear down another wall – much longer, much higher and not built along borders but along the lines of apartheid and ethnic cleansing. The 7th Week Against the Apartheid Wall, under the banner of “Unite Against Apartheid”, saw organizers conducting demonstrations, holding vigils, distributing information, screening films, and calling for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel. Scottish trade union federation backs BDS

April 23rd, 2009 -- The Scottish Trade Union Congress (STUC) voted to take up the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign, joining South Africa and Ireland as the third national trade union federation to become part of the global movement. The decision to support BDS happened in a large part due to a report given by a STUC Delegation that recently visited Palestine as well as in response to the Gaza massacres. [MORE]
