Admission procedure for the reading of the Advisory Opinion of the Court on Friday 9 July 2004
MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
THE HAGUE, 25 June 2004. In view of the interest generated by this case, an online admission procedure has been established for members of the public. Special rules governing access to the Peace Palace for the reading of the Court’s Advisory Opinion will also apply. Please read them carefully before completing your online request for admission, so as to avoid any problems on arrival at the Court.
New: Online Admission Procedure
A limited number of places has been reserved for the general public inside the Peace Palace, seat of the Court in The Hague, in a room close to the Great Hall of Justice, where the reading of the Advisory Opinion will be transmitted live on a large screen, in both English and French. As the available space will not be sufficient for all those wishing to attend, members of the public who would like to be present at the reading on 9 July 2004 are kindly asked to complete the online request for admission to be found on the home page of the Court’s website (www.icj‑cij.org). Requests for admission must be submitted by 1 July 2004. It will not be possible to request admission after that date. Only requests completed in full and submitted online will be considered. No account will be taken of requests sent by fax or post. Requests will be checked individually by the Court’s Information Department. The Department will provide advance confirmation of admissions by e‑mail not later than 7 July 2004. If you have not received a response by that date, that means your request has not been accepted. The Department’s e‑mail to successful applicants will notify those admitted of where and how to pick up their badges/entry cards. Lost badges/cards cannot be replaced.
Access to the Peace Palace
So as to avoid long queues in front of the Palace, members of the public are asked to present themselves at the gates by not later than 2 p.m. on 9 July 2004. Please be sure to bring an ID document. Rigorous checks will be carried out. Only officially admitted individuals with valid identification will be allowed onto the Peace Palace site during the public sitting.
Parking
No parking will be permitted within the Peace Palace grounds. Vehicles should be left in parking spaces (generally metered) in neighbouring streets.
