Al-Ma’sara: French activist injured in the weekly protest against the Wall
Latest News, Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign, July 24th, 2010
Today a number of demonstrators suffered from suffocation from tear gas, fired in large amounts by the occupation, into the crowd of protestors. One solidarity activist’s ear was injured.
The weekly march started in front of the Zawahra school and was dedicated to a call for national unity. A big delegation from France participated in the protest. The activists first marched through the streets of the village chanting the call for national unity. When access to the entrance of the village was blocked, the occupation forces fired tear gas and sound bombs into the crowd, injuring one French solidarity activist’s ear.
The march was addressed by Mohammed Brijiyeh, who stressed the importance of national unity in order to effectively confront the policies of the occupation. He further underlined that negotiations, whether direct or indirect, are an absurd endeavour in the current political situation. Instead, the Palestinian political priority should be to create a national unity front of all.
