April 21, Washington, DC- On the eve of Earth Day, groups working for Palestinian rights globally are celebrating Earth Day Network’s decision to end its partnership with SodaStream, whose main production factory is located in an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.

 

Bill Gates slammed over links to Israel prison

 

Palestinian human rights organisations have criticised Bill Gates after it emerged that his charitable foundation is heavily invested in G4S, a private security company that helps Israel run prisons at which Palestinian political prisoners are held without trial and subjected to torture and provides equipment for the checkpoint system connected to the construction of the Wall.

20\4\2014 Although negotiations continue between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, there has been no change on the daily practices Israeli government and settlers implement in the occupied territories. Reports indicate that, in March, the Israeli government approved the building of 2840 housing units in the city of Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank.

Deir Istya is an old historic village with architecture and city walls from the Mamluk era, the Roman and Byzantine times and the Ottoman Empire. It is located in the West Bank C-area, meaning that Israel has full security and civil control over the area. It is one of the oldest villages in the West Bank. Approximately 3500 persons inhabit the village. There are currently ten settlements that encircle this area. Five of them are on the land of Deir Istya, while the others claim land from surrounding villages. The village faces many problems, particularly during the season of olive harvest.

The town of Beit Jala lies in Bethlehem district in the West Bank, governed by it’s own municipality and mayor. It is both A-area (approximately 25 per cent) and C-area (the remaining percentage of Beit Jala-land)[1]. Traditionally, the inhabitants of Beit Jala consisted of 80 per cent Christians, but today this figure is much less. The area is considered of great religious importance, but Beit Jala is currently facing many difficulties concerning the Apartheid Wall.

‘Azzun ‘Atma is a small village in Qalqiliya district of the West Bank that has been occupied since 1967. It is governed as a C-area, meaning that Israeli authorities have full security and civil control. The village of ‘Azzun ‘Atma faces many difficulties due to the checkpoints and the Apartheid Wall, and the settlements that surround the area of the village. Persons from the area who work inside Israel struggle with bad working conditions.

 

2 \ 4 \ 2014 The Union of Palestinian Farmers and the grass-roots campaign Stop the Wall, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Association of Kafr al-Labad planted more than 100 olive seedlings on a land threatened with confiscation near "Avni Hefetz" settlement, which was built on the lands of Kafr al-Labad and Shufa villages in Tulkarm. Dozens of volunteers and farmers planted seedlings commemorating the eternal Land Day.

Campaigners from around the world are taking part in a week of action against Israeli national water company Mekorot, the main agent of Israeli water apartheid against Palestinians. The week launches on 22 March, World Water Day, and lasts until 30 March, when Palestinians mark Land Day in protest of Israeli systematic land and resource theft. The mobilizations come in response to a call from Palestinian organizations PENGON/Friends of the Earth Palestine, the Palestinian BDS National Committee and the Land Defense Coalition.

CTA, ATE, Federación de Entidades Argentino-Palestinas (Federation of Argentinian-Palestinian Entities) and Stop the Wall announced the suspension of the shady business with Mekorot, a water treatment plant that would have fuelled Israeli apartheid in Palestine and sought to export it to La Plata in Argentina.

21\2\2014 today, Israeli forces arrested five citizens including Badie Dweik, an activist in Youth Against  Settlements, and dozens were injured. A  Sky agency journalist injured in the head by a tear gas, after the occupation army suppressed the demonstration that Hebron Defense Committee, Stop the Wall campaign, Youth Against Settlements, and several national bodies have called for  on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of  Al Ibrahimi Mosque  massacre.

Since a new round of negotiations started five months ago between Israel and Palestine, under US mediation, the Israeli State started building over 9500 new settlements in the West Bank, Occupied Palestinian Territory. It is expected that 150,000 Israeli settlers will arrive to join the occupation and the Apartheid that is harassing the Palestinian people.

 

15 \ 2 \ 2014, Israeli occupation forces suppressed an activity to plant olive seedlings  in Susia area in Hebron,  they also prevented activists from reaching Al Mkfarah and Atwana regions to plant olive seedlings.

8 \ 2 \ 2014, This morning, Occupation Forces detained four Popular Resistance activists on Tayaseer barrier, while they were heading to Al Hadedieh area in the northern Jordan Valley. The Israeli army detained Sohail Al Salman, the Committees coordinator of Stop the Wall campaign; as well as detaining the activists Omar Mansour, and Salah al-Khawaja, who was detained for six consecutive hours. 

 

January 2014 witnessed increase in the continues settlers' crimes against Palestinians and their property, as well as the reveal of further settlement expansion plans that the Israeli government agreed on.
