March 30 day of action Credit: . Date: April 2nd, 2009.
On March 30, people across the world organized film screenings, sit-ins, demonstrations and new boycott campaigns on the first global BDS action day. Some highlights included South America, which is quickly taking up the BDS call, and Italy, which has mobilized on an unprecedented level.
The day was part of the “Global Week of Action against Capitalism and War” from March 28 to April 4, 2009, that was launched by the Social Movements Assembly at the WSF in Belem. This included mobilization against the G20 in Europe and protest in Latin America under the call "We won't pay your crisis!" The link between military and economic aggression was central, and Palestine figured strongly into the agenda of social justice movements.
