Families in Jayyus Camp on Isolated Land
Photos, PENGON/Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign , July 20th, 2003

In July 2003, families from Jayyus, a village east if Qalqiliya, began sleeping in tents on their land which has been isolated by the Apartheid Wall—the area which is being de facto annexed by Israel. Jayyus has had 72% of its lands and seven groundwater wells isolated by the Wall. Seventy-five percent of Jayyus’ 3,000 residents are dependent upon their land for income and/or direct subsistence. Some 300 families have lost their only source of income.
