Stop the Wall Campaign and the Palestinian Federation in Brazil - FEPAL have today released a report on the Bilateral Cooperation in Research and Industrial Development between Brazil and Israel. (See below.)

We argue that beyond legitimizing and sustaining Israeli policies, the cooperation program risks to recognize and/or directly aid and assist the construction of the Wall and the settlement enterprise and the maintenance of the situation created by them as well as other Israeli violations of peremptory norms.

All major Palestinian farmers organizations have issued a call to end international trade with Israeli agribusiness and have also published this briefing entitled Farming Injustice. Farming Injustice details the systematic destruction of Palestinian agriculture by Israel and the role played by international trade with Israeli agribusinesses. Palestinian agricultural organisations today issued an appeal for international civil society to take action to pressure supermarkets and governments to end trade with Israeli companies that operate in settlements, which finances and rewards settlement expansion and other violations of international law.

For background on the issue, this is from a recent Press release from the Italian Coalition Stop That Train:

On 30 November, the City Council of Rho, in the province of Milan, approved a resolution expressing “moral and political condemnation of Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A. for its participation in the project for the construction of the A1 Jerusalem – Tel Aviv railway”.

The call to divest from Elbit Systems Ltd. has become a key element of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement aimed at ending Israeli occupation, colonialism and apartheid against the Palestinian people.

Motorola through its fully owned subsidiary Motorola Israel provides the Israeli state and its military with equipment employed in war crimes and contributes to the construction and maintenance of the Wall, the settlements and the checkpoints. The report is available below in English and Portuguese.

The Wall and its checkpoints, observation systems, and military roads is the largest infrastructure project carried out by the Occupation authorities to date, requiring a variety of landscapers and plan¬ners; suppliers of concrete, fencing and heavy machinery; and other producers of various high-tech equipment. As of 2007, 700 different subcontractors, around 60 planning offices, 53 major construc¬tion companies, 5 wire-fence companies, 11 civilian security companies, and about 34 producers of surveillance and communications were on the payroll

In 2008, a water cooperation agreement went into effect between the Los Angeles municipality, involving state educational institutions, and Israeli private and state-owned water enterprises. Such an agreement means that Los Angeles institutions are complicit with Israeli practices of water annexation and settlement, and we must ensure the agreements between the two become a target of awareness raising and concrete boycott action.

Analyzing dozens of cases of commercial ties and political initiatives, it proves once again that trade relations with Israel necessarily require involvement in or complicity with Israeli violations of human rights and international law, including assistance to Israeli occupation, colonialism and apartheid.

This briefing was created for the Norwegian Pension Fund to demand divestment from three Israeli companies. Israeli Electric Corporation (IEC), Nesher Israel Cement Enterprises Ltd, and Emblaze Ltd. all are engaged in activities that run contrary to the Fund’s ethical guidelines.

Israeli Electric Corporation (IEC)
