The second large scale Israeli public transport infrastructure project is now feeling the heat of BDS campaigners. The Israeli light rail project in Jerusalem has been since years targeted by BDS activists that support Palestinian calls for boycotts and divestments from companies that participate in this project, which links Israeli settlements to West Jerusalem and strengthens the Israeli grip on the occupied eastern part of the city.

November saw a flurry of BDS activities in Argentina, where workers from the recovered factories, along with the global umbrella organization for community radio, committed to active support of the 2005 Palestinian BDS call.

This briefing was created for the Norwegian Pension Fund to demand divestment from Elbit Systems. Elbit Systems is one of the largest Israel “security” and “defence” companies. It is key in manufacturing a variety of weapons used against both the Palestinian and Lebanese people as well as providing technology used to secure the Wall and settlements.

Endorse the international day of action on March 30!



During the month of March, 2009, the Palestine National BDS Committee has launched a major endorsement gathering drive. This leads up to the Global Day of BDS actions on March 30 that was announced at the World Social Forum held last month in Brazil.










Palestine solidarity organization Adalah-NY was recently involved in two actions against Lev Leviev, the Israeli diamond magnate and construction mogul. The first action called on the British government to reverse its plan to rent its new embassy in Tel Aviv from Leviev’s company, Africa-Israel, as dealings with Leviev serve to condone the Occupation’s settlement construction on stolen Palestinian land.




Dutch activists kicked off the week against the Wall with an action in front of the Dutch parliament building at The Hague. A petition against the Apartheid Wall containing over 7000 signatures was presented to the Dutch government and parliament through the Foreign Affairs Committee.




The Somerville Divestment Project (SDP), an organization that focuses on grassroots organising in Somerville Massachusetts, is launching a campaign to divest Somerville Retirement Board Funds of over 1.4 million dollars from bonds and companies that supply arms and military equipment to Israel. The community signature drive calls for a nonbinding ballot on the question of divestment from Israel in November of 2005.
