***image1***Anti-Wall demonstrations this week commemorated the life of Basem Abu Rahma, who was killed last week in Bil’in. Several were detained and at least 37 were wounded in Ni’lin, Bil’in, Jayyus and al-Ma’sara. 25 of the wounded are residents of Bil’in, where a memorial was set up on Friday for Abu Rahma. Youth in Jayyus have also reported that soldiers have started using only live ammunition against village demonstrations.

***image2***With increasing attention directed at the disingenuous “disengagement” from Occupied Gaza, the unrelenting construction of the Apartheid Wall is falling under the radar of international media. This intended political distraction calls attention away from the daily reality of land devastation and confiscation that Palestinian villages are facing as construction of the Apartheid Wall continues. Palestinian communities have maintained their opposition to Occupation Forces through weekly demonstrations.

Marking the one year anniversary of the ICJ decree on the illegality of the Apartheid Wall, villages across Palestine mobilized during a week long series of protests, demanding the ICJ decision to be implemented. As long as the Occupation continues, Palestinians will continue to resist and demand for their right to self-determination. No matter how hungry the Zionist vision, the instinct for liberation is stronger.

***image2***Large demonstrations against the Apartheid Wall in the village of Bil’in marked the 38th anniversary of Al Naksa - the Occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in 1967. Around a thousand protesters from villages throughout the district, and Bil’in itself, gathered on land that is being confiscated and destroyed for the construction of the Wall. The demonstration culminated in clashes and confrontations with the Occupation Forces, as people expressed their steadfast determination to resist the Apartheid Wall.

Around 300 demonstrators – most from the nearby village of Bil'in - gathered in downtown Ramallah during the evening of May 23rd to protest the ongoing colonization of their lands by the Apartheid Wall. Congregating at the city’s Al Manara central square, demonstrators lit torches and marched to the Palestinian Authority (PA) Muqata Compound with a message for Mahmoud Abbas on the eve of his trip to the US, voicing their anger at the international support and complicity for the brutal Occupation and its Apartheid Wall.

Occupation bulldozers are currently operating non-stop in the implementation of the second and third phases of the Apartheid Wall. It is creating the realities on the ground for shaping the Zionist Colonial Project for Palestine.
