Occupied Palestine – On the eve of the International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine, 52 international notables issued a statement calling for “urgent … international action towards a mandatory, comprehensive military embargo against Israel.” Though directly motivated by Israel’s latest war of aggression against the 1.6 million Palestinians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip, the statement is also a reaction to Israel’s decades-old military occupation and persistent denial of the UN-sanctioned rights of the Palestinia

This briefing was created for the Norwegian Pension Fund to demand divestment from Elbit Systems. Elbit Systems is one of the largest Israel “security” and “defence” companies. It is key in manufacturing a variety of weapons used against both the Palestinian and Lebanese people as well as providing technology used to secure the Wall and settlements.

This briefing was created for the Norwegian Pension Fund to demand divestment from three Israeli companies. Israeli Electric Corporation (IEC), Nesher Israel Cement Enterprises Ltd, and Emblaze Ltd. all are engaged in activities that run contrary to the Fund’s ethical guidelines.

The IEC has been in constant violation of the ethical guidelines in a number of ways. The most relevant is its historic and long-running support for Jewish settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory:







On the 21st of November, the Green Party of the United States endorsed a statement calling for a comprehensive strategy of boycott and divestment against Israel. The resolution, introduced by the Wisconsin Green Party and passed by the party's National Committee, comes within a growing global trend among left wing and progressive parties to adopt the Palestinian call for the Isolation of Apartheid Israel. The Socialist Left Party, a member of the center-left Norwegian government is to officially launch a solidarity campaign for Palestine beginning in the New Year. The campaign will focus on a consumer boycott of Israeli products and will push for a ban on any arms trade between the Norwegian government and the Israeli regime. After reactions in Parliament, the news of the campaign has already started a heated debate in Norwegian media bringing wider publicity and debate into the boycott and sanctions campaign.




In their recent session in Paris, July 13, 2005 the UN International Conference of Civil Society for Peace in the Middle East unanimously adopted the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions.



Through the call participating groups recommitted themselves to ending the Occupation of Palestine and to bringing down the Apartheid Wall as a key element in ending Occupation policies of settlements, land grabs and the destruction of farms and houses.

In the latest move, the Virginia Conference of the UMC this week passed a resolution to consider divestment from companies profiting from or facilitating the seizure of Palestinian land or the destruction of Palestinian homes.

In pouring rain, protestors marched to Trafalgar Square and denounced Apartheid Israel and its Occupation of Palestine. They demanded an end to international complicity in the Occupation's crimes and called for boycott, divestment and sanctions to be put in place against Apartheid Israel. This call was echoed by the event's many speakers, who gathered from Palestine and from within British civil society.

The community signature drive calls for a nonbinding ballot on the question of divestment from Israel in November of 2005.

The Association of University of Wisconsin Professionals (TAUWP) has passed a resolution calling on the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents to divest from companies involved in supplying the Occupation Forces with the tools, resources and materials used in the colonization of the Palestinian people and the brutal occupation which they endure.



TAUWP represents faculty and academic staff from 25 University of Wisconsin campuses. The resolution was passed at the TAUWP delegate assembly on April 23rd by a vote of 24 to 2, with four abstentions.

A demonstration for a Free Palestine, ending with the symbolic destruction of a 10-meter long mock Wall, drew large numbers of supporters for the Palestinian cause.

Recently members of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign handed out information flyers to shareholders of the Irish construction firm Cement Roadstone Holdings (CRH) on 5th May, at the companys Annual General Meeting. CRH own a 25% stake in the Mashav Group, an Israeli holding company for Nesher Cement, who is the sole producer of cement in Israel.
