Occupation forces today began blocking all the side roads along the western edge of the main road between Ramallah and Jerusalem in preparation for starting construction of the Apartheid Wall. By closing the side roads it seems the Occupation forces are planning to limit the movement of cars and people on the road until the Wall is completed, at which point no movement along the road will be possible.

The establishment of the settlement created a difficult political and social situation for the Palestinian villages in the area.

The settlement started with a small number of housing units. During the Oslo period, the settlement expanded to include large industrial areas built at the expense of Palestinian land.

***image1***Walaja is located south west of Jerusalem. The village was Occupied in October 1948, but Palestinian and Egyptian guerillas fought off the Israeli battalions and successfully defended their village. Several times they were able to force the Occupation troops to withdraw, but in the end the village was Occupied. (Al Khalidi, Wallid 1992: All That Remains). The village was then destroyed, and Aminadav settlement was built on its lands along with an Israeli park.
