On February the 7th a Wall was built for two hours at Checkpoint Charlie, the most famous border crossing between East and West Berlin during Cold War times. As part of the international campaign “Stop the Wall” this Wall was erected as a symbol for the Wall that is currently being built in Palestine. The noise of Israeli tanks, helicopters, bulldozers and F16s â background noise that is all too familiar for the people living in Occupied Palestine â drew attention and shocked visitors to the nearby Berlin Wall Museum, passers-by and the participants of the protest. The prepared information sheets and a photo exhibition about the Wall in Palestine received great attention and explained to passers-by and visiting media, how the building of the Wall is creating more obstacles to reaching a just peace by dividing the West Bank into small and isolated Bantustan, causing tremendous suffering to the effected Palestinian population and destroying the chances for a peaceful coexistence with every new section that is built.
The Protest was supported by the following groups:
AK Internationalismus IG Metall Berlin,
AK Nahost,
Deutsch-Israelisch-Palästinensische Gesellschaft e.V.,
