On Friday July 9th, 2010, the village of Niâlinâs weekly protest against the Wall and settlements commemorated the sixth anniversary of the International Court of Justiceâs ruling which declared Israelâs construction of the Wall illegal under international law.
***image***As usual, the protest began after Friday prayers and moved towards the lands confiscated by the Wall. Sheikh Murad Amira led the prayers and the demonstration included a sit-in in solidarity against the arrest of one of the ambulance crews of the Palestinian Red Crescent.
The march was accompanied by the participation of international solidarity activists. At the Wall gate, the demonstrators carried signs and shouted slogans against Israeli occupation policies. The protestors then threw stones at the heavily armed Occupation Forces who responded by firing large amounts of tear gas and chasing the protestors to the outskirts of the village.
Niâlin was just one of the many villages marking the anniversary of the ICJ ruling against the Wall during their weekly protest this past Friday.
