Nine arrested at checkpoint protest

Occupation forces repressed a demonstration condemning the Apartheid Wall and settlements at the Qalandiya checkpoint, which closes off Jerusalem to the north, on Saturday. Demonstrators called for the opening of the checkpoint and demanded that Palestinians be allowed to enter and reach their isolated city.

Several solidarity delegations from France and Spain participated in the march, and along with Palestinians called for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) and freedom for Palestine. When protestors tried to open a gate at the checkpoint and pass through towards Jerusalem, Occupation forces began to beat them back, breaking the hand of one demonstrator.
