Israel Seizes 28 Thousand Dunums for Settlement Expansion

TEL AVIV, April 29, 2014 (WAFA) – The Israeli Civil Administration in the West Bank recently seized 28 thousand dunums of land in the West Bank for expansion of Israeli settlements, reported the Israeli daily Haaretz.

The newspaper pointed out, that the occupation's leader of the civil administration  Yoav Mordechai, participated, in a session of the Sub-Committee 'Judea and Samaria' in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the Israeli Knesset, to discuss the application of the civil administration law on Palestinians.

It said the land seized is located in what the Israeli authorities consider strategic locations, which were declared ‘state property’ for the expansion of 40 settlements. And also seized 13 dunums west of the separation wall. 



The newspaper quoted Dror latex, which monitors settlement construction, comment saying: ' thinking deeper about the details of the confiscation and settlement building one reaches the conclusion that the Israeli Government behave as if there were no agreement, Oslo, or negotiations'.





In the meantime, Peace Now, an Israeli peace organization, indicated that since the beginning of the recent round of Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the Israeli government announced the construction of 13851 housing units, including tenders for the construction of 4868 settlement units in East Jerusalem and other settlement outposts.
