***image2***Izbet al Tabib, east of Qalqilia has had its application to build houses for its 217 inhabitants denied yet again. The Occupation forces all Palestinians within the West Bank area demarcated as âC zoneâ by the Oslo process to apply for building permits, which are regularly denied. The âC zoneâ overlaps in large parts with the 48% of land isolated behind the Apartheid wall and checkpoints.
The inhabitants of Izbet at Tabib, who often live in houses of corrugated iron and cement blocks, have been applying to the occupation to construct houses since 1991. Instead, the people of the village have received documentation stating that they will be evicted from Izbet at Tabib and forced to move into the neighboring village of Azzun using the justification that the area falls into the infamous C zone.
However, the residents of the village refuse to leave and insist that they will not be forcefully removed from their homes. 17 of the 40 houses in Izbat at Tabib have received military orders stating that they will be demolished by the occupation. This comes along with the preparations to construct a new settler only road, road 531, through the area. The mayor of Izbet at Tabib commented: âThese plans to expel the people from the village are just another part of the Zionist project to get rid of all Palestinians.â
