Legal Consequences of the Construction of a Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Request for advisory opinion)

Live Internet video coverage of the reading of the Court’s Advisory Opinion on Friday 9 July 2004, from 3 p.m.

THE HAGUE, 25 June 2004. The reading of the Advisory Opinion to be rendered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), principal judicial organ of the United Nations, in the case concerning the Legal Consequences of the Construction of a Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (request for advisory opinion), will be transmitted in full, live, on the Court’s website (www.icj-cij.org) on Friday 9 July 2004, from 3 p.m.

As was done at the public hearings in February 2004, it has been decided to webcast the reading in response to the exceptional interest shown by the general public, civil society organizations and the media worldwide, and in view of the Court’s very limited seating space for the public and media representatives at the Peace Palace in The Hague.

The reading will be filmed by the Court’s permanent network of cameras in the Great Hall of Justice at the Peace Palace. Transmission will be in the Court’s two official languages only: English and French.

Practical information

To access the webcast of the Advisory Opinion reading under optimal conditions, we recommend that you use a recent‑model computer and a recent version of Windows Media Player. Because of congestion on the Court’s website, there may be occasional short breaks in transmission. If so, please wait and then try to reconnect.

Those wishing to access a recorded webcast of the reading (because of website congestion, time differences, etc.) should click on the temporary “Video Archive” link. This will be deactivated one week after the reading.
