Bil’in: 2 journalists injured on weekly protest during the olive harvest season

Tear gas and rubber bullets were fired by the Occupation Forces at Palestinians and international activists during the Bil’in weekly protest. Protesters raised flags and banners calling for the release of human rights defenders who have been imprisoned by the Occupation. The protesters also called for further grassroots resistance against the demolition of houses in Jerusalem and evacuation of peoples from villages. They also chanted slogans calling for the end of the siege on Gaza.

The protesters marched in the village streets then to the location of the Apartheid Wall where there was a large presence of occupation forces ambushing behind blocks of wall as the march came close. The protesters tried to push through the Wall gate to reach the lands behind it which belong to the villagers in order to harvest the olive trees, when the Occupation Forces started to release sound bombs, rubber bullets and tear gas. This resulted in the injury of two journalists called Harun Amayreh, 25 years old, who works for Palestine TV, who suffered tear gas asphyxiation and Abbas Moumani, 36 years old who was injured by a rubber bullet to his back. Several others suffered from the firing of tear gas.
