Three days ago, Occupation forces began uprooting lands in Deir Sharraf, north of Nablus. The land destruction serves the construction of a wall around the Zionist settlement of Shafe Shamron, the eastern part of a belt of colonies which will cut off the northern-most part of the West Bank.
On Wednesday, 7th of June, Occupation forces invaded the lands of Deir Sharraf close to the settlement of Shafe Shamron and uproot 2 km of land. These village lands are cultivated with olive trees, and already over 200 trees have been destroyed. Behind the wall, 700 â 1,000 dunam of Deir Sharrafâs agricultural lands will be isolated from their owners. The completed Wall is expected to steal and destroy further lands from Naqurah and Sabastiya.
A military camp established during the British Mandate in the area of settlement Shafe Shamron has been expanded by the Occupation to a residential colony. In the 1990âs, a Jewish-only road was constructed over 3 km of Deir Sharrafâs lands.
The Jewish-only settlement and apartheid infrastructure cuts between Taybeh and Tulkarem and runs north across the West Bank past Nablus. In the area north of this line that the Zionist colonizers have drawn, ghettoization has become a reality.
