Art against Apartheid – International Call for Submissions

The Coalition against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) from Canada has created a space for artists and designers to submit and promote their artwork and to make it available for campaigners and activists fighting Israeli Apartheid.

With the international call for submissions CAIA hopes to support the movement for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israeli apartheid as well as the efforts of artists all over the world.

International Call For Submissions: ‘NO MORE BANTUSTANS’

The Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) is calling on all artists to lend their support to the growing Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against the apartheid state of Israel.

The movement against South African Apartheid left us with a rich legacy of poster art from communities engaged in the struggle all over the world. These images resonate today as the struggle against apartheid in all its forms continues. In an attempt to make our campaign global, we are calling on artists around the world to collaborate with us in creating the images we use in this campaign.

You can do this in two ways:

With the belief that the posters we use for our international campaign should be representative of the international people, not just those who have the luxury of studio space and fancy design programs, we are looking to collaborate with you, over there across the ocean, or you right here in this city. In short, you send our collective your art and images that deal with Israeli apartheid, and we will collaborate with you to make it a silk-screened poster for the BDS movement.

The dead-line for submissions will not close until there is a free Palestine. However, we have a few art events coming up within the early months of 2007. Do send us your images ASAP, or get to work now and send them later.

Or digitally:

Send us an image that you would like to see on the design of a BDS poster. If you would like, also include a rough sketch of how you would like to see it on a poster, as well as any additional information.

We will use your image to design a poster for the movement. We will send you a draft of what we have, and a back and forth will ensue.

A consent form will be sent to you to confirm that CAIA can use your image as part of the BDS movement.

Note: We won’t be manipulating the content of your image unless it is to make it print ready. This includes changing its size (proportionally) and over/under-laying it with specific text for the BDS movement, and possibly other images.

Do contact us via e-mail if you have any questions.

Submit your Art to be used by CAIA in upcoming installations. Any art about Palestine, the conditions of Apartheid, and the BDS campaign are more than welcome. Send us your art digitally or by mail.
Write to us at:

and we can arrange mail subsidy if necessary. The pieces you send us will be used publicly in art exhibits and cultural events, to promote an apartheid free Palestine.

Thanks a lot.
