Occupation forces have carried out assaults and blocked workers, farmers and students from passing through the gate in âAzzun âAtma. The village, located in the Qalqilya district, is surrounded on three sides by the Wall.
Occupation soldiers assaulted a number of people in the village of âAzzun âAtma at the entrance gate to the village. âAmr Quzmar and Hasan Jihad, from the nearby village of âAzbat Salman, are two of the people who have been assaulted crossing the gate. Also, according to witnesses, soldiers assaulted Ehab Bashaar and Raâfat Husni âOmar, a member of the village council of âAzzun âAtma. They were hit violently and detained over a period of several hours. No explanations were supplied.
Soldiers also blocked a number of female students from going to al-Quds Open University in Qalqilya. The students ID cards were confiscated and held for some time before they were returned.
Finally, Occupation forces barred hundreds of farmers and workers from passing through the gate to reach their lands or places of work. Those responsible for the agricultural water pumps in the surrounding farmland were unable to water crops, which will have a detrimental effect on growth.
With these actions, the Occupation has stepped up its repressive measures against the population of âAzzun âAtma. Additional military patrols have appeared in the vicinity of the village, ostensibly due to the funeral being held for the students of the settlement training school in Jerusalem on the Shaâare Tiqva settlement that is located on village land to the south.
