Wadi Rahal: Scouts lead protest against the Apartheid Wall in spite of threats from IOF

The scouts of Wadi al-Rahal led the residents and the international solidarity activists in the weekly march against the Apartheid Wall in the village. After the Friday prayers, the march started from the center of the village and moved towards the area of the Wall in an attempt to reach the confiscated lands.

The demonstrators were chanting slogans condemning the occupation and the settlements and calling for the demolition of the Wall and the lifting of the siege on Gaza. Upon the arrival of the demonstrators to the area of the Wall, the Israeli occupation forces were already waiting there with 5 military vehicles. A clashes ensued when the occupation forces prevented the demonstrators from reaching the confiscated lands. An officer of the occupying forces threatened the people having stated that the demonstrators had five minutes to leave the site before they would be arrested. However, the demonstrators refused to leave and proceeded to sit in the area of the Wall and continued to wave Palestinian flags.

Wadi al-Rahal is among the new communities that have joined the coalition of Palestinian villages organizing weekly demonstrations in opposition to the Wall. The village began its weekly marches almost two months ago. However, the village’s popular committee stresses that despite the novelty of the organized resistance and the intensity of threats and pressures that accompany it, the citizens of Wadi al-Rahal are determined to continue their protests until the recovery of their lands is realized.
