On the Seventh Anniversary of the Advisory Opinion of the Hague Hundreds Asked to Implement the Decision of the International Tribunal
Almost 300 Palestinians demonstrated today at Qalandia military checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, in response to the invitation from Stop the Wall campaign, political parties, and the Independent Youth Movement. Demonstrators came out to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the decision of the international tribunal. The demonstrators held slogans demanding the implementation of the decision of the international tribunal and to break the siege of Jerusalem, and in solidarity with the international activists who were prevented to enter Ben Gurion airport by the Israeli occupation.
The occupation forces faced the popular demonstration with a burst of tear gas bombs and metal bullets, which caused many suffocated cases among the demonstrators, two of whom were taken to the hospital for treatment. Protesters were also beaten, which precipitated violent clashes between the two sides.
The Hague Decision determined the apartheid wall as illegal, ordered its demolition, and ordered that the land be given back to its owners with compensation for damages. It also confirmed that the occupation measures in Jerusalem are illegal and that settlements there are illegal, too.
Dozens from Independent Youth Movements Protest Against US Threats
Dozens of youth members of the Independent Youth Movement protested today at al-Manara Square in Ramallah after the decision of the United States congress to stop aiding Palestine. Their slogans sent messages back to the US including: âPalestinian unity is more important than the world’s dollarsâ and âStop blackmailing us with your dollars!â
This protest makes clear that the Palestinian people refuse international pressure on Palestine and interference in Palestinian internal affairs. The Palestinian people know that the United States is pro-Israel and continues to call for international solidarity support from Americans that will hold their government accountable for their part in the illegal occupation of Palestine.
