Outraged at Trump’s ‘Deal of the Century,’ Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip and all over the West Bank – the Jordan Valley, Jericho, Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem and Qalqilya – protested to denounce the US plan for peace. Palestinians see plans for another Nakba, the catastrophic mass expulsion of Palestinians in 1948, lying at the very heart of it. Dozens of protesters suffered suffocation due to tear gas fired by the Israeli occupation forces while others were shot with live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets.
During the demonstrations, protesters were chanting slogans denouncing the US ‘peace plan’ and calling for national unity to face all the attempts to liquidate their cause and deny them their basic human rights enshrined in the international law. The 'Deal of the Century’ calls on Palestinians to surrender by recognizing Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, to give up the refugees’ right of return, to accept the established illegal settlements and the annexation of the Jordan Valley and to continue living in Bantustans.
Huge protests also took place today in Jordan, Tunisia and Yemen to express their rejection to Trump’s ‘theft deal’ and to support the Palestinian people in the new wave of struggle to preserve their human rights, including their inalienable right to self-determination on their ancestral land.
Jamal Juma’, Coordinator of Stop the Wall Campaign stated:
“Trump’s ‘peace plan’ represents an assault on both the Palestinian people’s rights and the entire human rights framework. The protests’ that have been taking place in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip show that we will not succumb to the US-Israeli plan to give up our just cause. The demonstrations that took place today in a number of Arab countries send a message to the US, Israel and their allies that the Arab peoples are with the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation.”
