Summary:
1) Arrests of HRDs

Arrests occurred in the south of the West Bank, in Bethlehem and Hebron districts. A 13 year old boy is currently held in Ofar prison.
2) Violence against HRDs
-
The most grave use of disproportionate and unnecessary use of violence by the IOF has occurred in Bil’in, where 43 year old Imad Rizqa, Palestinian citizen of Israel has been hit directly by a tear gas canister fired not in the air but in the crowd and is hospitalized with fractured skull and brain haemorrhaging. Two journalists have been injured as well in Bil’in.

Beit Ummar has seen again a high level of violence.

The UNESCO Chair on Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace at an-Najah National University has published a report on the deaths of Usaid Abd Qadus (19) and Muhammad Ibrahim Abdel-Qadr Qadus (16) in Iraq Burin on 20 March 2010, considering them cases of wilful killing and a war crime. It calls upon the international community to take appropriate action.
3) Collective punishment

The Thursday night raids at the home of Mohammad Brijiyeh, al Ma’sara, have discontinued after the presence of the diplomatic community in the area on Tuesday.

In Beit Ummar settlers have wilfully destroyed over 70 dunum of agricultural land as a form of collective punishment for the people.

Italian activist was hit in the hand with rubber bullets.

Place: Beit Ummar, Hebron district Date: Wednesday April 21 2010 Circumstances: Sewage water flowing from three open tubes of wastewater plant in the Kfar Etzion settlement has destroyed some 70 dunums of vineyards in the valley of ash-Shakheet, which belongs to the village of Beit Ummar. Villagers consider this wilful destruction of their land a form of collective punishment meted out against them by the settlers. |
