Jawaher Abu Rahmah died on January 1 as a result of the tear gas she inhaled on December 31 during a protest against the Apartheid Wall that strangles her village Bilâin, stealing its lands and livelihood. She had seen her brother killed in a similar protest almost two years ago when Israeli military shot him with a tear gas grenade in the chest.
Activists around the world have organized for Jawaher, following a call from the Bil’in Popular Committee, Stop the Wall, and the General Union of Palestinian Women (GUPW). In honor of Jawaher and the struggle of Palestinian women, a commemoration will be held in Bil’in on the February 10, supported by the following global actions:

Manila, Philippines
The Stop the War Coalition Philippines will be holding a public action on February 10 in Manila, Philippines.
This will be part of a series of events in solidarity with Palestine. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign in the Philippines will feature forums, exhibits, video/film presentations in different schools and universities in Metro Manila and in some parts of southern Philippine island of Mindanao. This series of events will start with a public forum on February 8 at the University of the Philippines-Manila campus.

During the World Social Forum, the People’s Assembly on Palestine at the WSF will be opening with commemoration and speeches about Jawaher on February 11.
Beirut, Lebanon
A demonstration will be held, and a call will be sent out to the UN, UN women bodies and women and feminist organizations on February 11.
Turkey
Turkish activists from BDS Istanbul are translating into Turkish and disseminating articles on Jawaher, the Wall and Bilâin to raise awareness about the popular resistance against the Wall in Turkey.
