On Sunday, July 18th, 2004, Palestinian and Lebanese cultural forums called for a mass demonstration and sit-in in Beirut, in front of the United Nations ESCWA building. The overall slogan of the demonstration was “We will work together until the Apartheid Wall in Palestine Falls!”

Both Palestinian and Lebanese demonstrators participated in the sit-in, with organizers reading testimonies highlighting the suffering Palestinians are enduring with the Apartheid Wall ripping through their farmlands, villages, and cities. Throughout the demonstration participants held placards that read “Down with the Apartheid Wall!” and “The Wall Will Fall!!”
Organizers also disseminated thousands of fact sheets and newsletters prepared by the Grassroots Palestinian Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign. The demonstration was well attended by local activists, and received wide media coverage.
