Living with the Wall

Living with the Wall

The Israeli Apartheid Wall slashing through the West Bank has no concern for the lives, families, homes and communities that lie in its path – an experience far too familiar in Palestinian reality. The Wall denies Palestinians their most basic human rights, freedom of movement, freedom of access to health, water, food and other essential needs and in the process, makes them the subjects of harassment, assault and unacceptable mental stress. To have the Wall steal your land, isolate you from your family and community and establish itself as the backdrop to which you must try to endure already devastating conditions is an experience that is beyond comprehension. Still, the photos below, taken between November 2002 and July 2003 and during the Wall’s first phase of construction, provide a glance into the Wall’s collision into Palestinian communities.
