Norwegian retail chain VITA made public on Friday their decision to stop all sales of products originating from settlements in occupied Palestine.

 

Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) on tour with his "THe Wall Live" show in Brazil today issued his support for the World Social Forum Free Palestine:

 

"Since visiting Israel and the occupied territories in 2006, I have been part of an international movement to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, justice and equality.

On March 21st and 22nd, graduate students at Carleton University overwhelmingly voiced their support for the Palestinian people, by voting for the university’s pension fund to divest from four companies that are complicit in the occupation of Palestine.

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is a PhD candidate and the Chairperson of the Post Graduate Association at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. Ndlozi is a member of the South African Students Congress (SASCO) and a board member of BDS South Africa. Mbuyiseni is active in campaigning on both domestic and international issues, including worker rights, student issues and Palestine solidarity. He recently attended the South African session of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, a people's tribunal that found Israel guilty of the crime of apartheid under international law.

Two protests have been held today in Palestine to protest a French-Israeli military deal. A wide variety of youth organizations has organized the protests to oppose the French acquisition of $500 million worth of drones from Israeli Airspace Indistries.

 

Some 30 people gathered in Jerusalem in front of the French consulate and only hours later some 50 people protested in Ramallah in front of the French cultural center.

 

Gathered at the Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes for the First National Encounter on Palestine, the Palestinian National Committee and the Brazilian National preparatory committee we launched the WSF Free Palestine, to be held in November 2012 in Porto Alegre (Brazil).

This call follows the decision of the International Council of the WSF in May to support the project of a WSF on Palestine as well as extensive consultation in Brazil including the federal and national governments as well as the commitment to the event of the Coordination of the Social Movements in Brazil.

“Despite killings, arrests and repression, we will continue”
In the series of repression practiced by the occupation forces on the popular weekly demonstrations against the apartheid wall and settlements, occupation forces arrested and wounded dozens during the weekly demonstrations in the West Bank.
In Bilin, the occupation forces faced the protesters with sound and tear gas bombs and shot metal bullets covered with rubber, which caused dozens of suffocation cases and injured 20-year-old photojournalist Iyas Abo Rahme.

On 30 November, the City Council of Rho, in the province of Milan, approved a resolution expressing “moral and political condemnation of Pizzarotti & C. S.p.A. for its participation in the project for the construction of the A1 Jerusalem – Tel Aviv railway”.

 

(Quito, Ecuador) Many in Ecuador have also been moved to show solidarity with the Palestinians and their struggle, especially during this occasion of the international week against the wall.

From the iconic sites of the Israeli wall and the US/Mexico border, we are witnessing a world-wide proliferation of walls and reinforcement of borders. These not only delimitate the nation state but proliferate in its interior, reproducing social divisions along lines of race, class and gender, and reflecting and reinforcing existing power relations.
