Bay area activists bring the Apartheid Wall to the streets of San Francisco!

Activists from Break The Siege took Israel’s Apartheid Wall to San Francisco’s shopping district on Saturday 11th of November. The ten-foot high wall sections confronted shoppers with the questions,

“What If This Wall Were Between You and the Hospital?”
“What If This Wall Were Between You and Your School?”
“What If This Wall Were Between You and Your Family?”

About 70 activists participated in the action, which meandered through Union Square, the Metreon and Yerba Buena Gardens before converging on the brand new Westfield Shopping Centre. Some 1000 flyers have been distributed and dozens of by passers have been engaged in discussions and awareness raising while on their way between shopping malls, cafes, and sidewalks in downtown San Francisco.

The action was supported by media kits prepared for the Week against the Apartheid Wall, an online petition and signature blocks.

The street action is part of a wider campaign staged by Break the Siege which includes media work and divestment activism.
