Students activism in the US continues to expose Israeli Apartheid!

***image2***At Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, in order to mark the International Week of Action Against the Apartheid Wall, New Jersey Solidarity – Activists for the Liberation of Palestine erected a mock wall at Brower Commons on Wednesday, November 15. The informational display was part of the awareness raising efforts of the solidarity activists and helped to educate the Rutgers community about the Palestinian struggle.

Hundreds of factsheets about the Apartheid Wall were distributed to students at the University, many of whom knew very little about the Wall before seeing the display.

At Rutgers as well as in dozens US universities, the call for divestment has informed much of the solidarity activism. Core of the demand is the analysis of Israel’s colonial and racist nature that bears many of the same features as the erstwhile apartheid regime in South Africa.

This point is raised as well in the one day conference held at Boston University on November 19th that to examines why Israel’s policies towards Palestinians are apartheid policies. It will explore the role activists can play to respond to the Palestinian Call for BDS, and to help create the kind of pressure that will be needed to move the region “beyond apartheid.
