Japanese activists call for boycott of the Occupation’s Philharmonic Orchestra!

***image1***On March 20, the Kansai Network for Peace in Palestine (KNPP) held a protest in front of the
Symphonic Hall of Osaka to promote the cultural boycott of Israel.

Members of the KNPP put up a Palestinian flag as well as a banner in front of the entrance to the Hall. The banner read “Boycott Israel!! End The Occupation!!” They distributed hundreds of handouts to the audience that briefly explained the situation in Palestine and demanded: “If you enjoy occupier’s music, you should hear voices of the occupied.”

***image2***Founded in February this year the KNPP is a young coalition,. So far Its sponsors include the Palestine Forum Japan, Kansai United Action and The United Church of Christ in Japan (Social Committee of Osaka district).

The KNPP has taken up the call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions and also hopes to stop the huge flow of Japanese funds being pumped into projects in the Jordan Valley where Israeli companies use Palestinian land and cheap unprotected labour for their agribusiness and then bypass the Arab boycott with the support of Jordanian partners.
