The people of Walaja organized a day of voluntary work on the occasion of the Nakba. After Friday prayers, they joined Palestinian volunteers from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem and international solidarity activists from the village center and walked towards the area called âal-Kharbeâ, where the village cemetery is located. Together they cleaned the graves and the graveyard and rehabilitated some of the ancient tombs.
The move comes as a message to the occupation forces that the people in the village will not allow the Wall to pass over the graves of their dear ones and will not allow a hundred year old cemetery be bulldozed by the occupation forces.
